Ingrid’s Legacy- From Salem to Superlative, A Witch’s Tale of Survival and Power

Before she became a guardian, a guide, and a voice of reason, Ingrid was just a girl running for her life.

Long before Serenity’s story began, Ingrid faced her own nightmare- one fueled by fear, fire, and the infamous Salem witch trials. Her legacy didn’t begin with power. It began with pain, loss, and the fight to survive in a world that punished magic.

In The Gifted Series, Ingrid is a side character with the thread that ties centuries of history to the present. A woman shaped by the past, yet strong enough to shape the future. To truly know her is to understand how deep her scars go- and how fiercely she protects those she loves.

Salem’s Fire and a Girl Who Survived

Ingrid was born in 1670 in Surrey, England. Her life was, however, altered with the migration of her family to Salem, Massachusetts. It was meant to be a new beginning. Rather, it became a nightmare. The witch trials in Salem were at their peak, and nobody was safe in town.

When her parents were accused of being witches and executed, Ingrid was just a girl. She barely escaped with her life. It was at that point that she lost everything and had no choice but to flee, which was the beginning of her actual starting point.

She was adopted by Mary Lancaster, who had belonged to the ‘Grand Coven’ and had been carried to a secret settlement of witches. That is when Ingrid began to realize who she was and just how strong she could be.

The Gift and the Curse of Immortality

Ingrid did not choose magic. She was reached out to by magic. She was raised by powerful witches who taught her spells, history, and how to survive in a world that feared her kind. Her aging ceased on her 25th birthday. It was at that time she discovered she was not only gifted but also immortal.

However, with immortality, there was a burden. Ingrid was made to witness generations come and go. She watched her friends die and saw her enemies come back, and magic grow. Nevertheless, she never gave up her mission, which was to safeguard witches, raise the next generation, and eventually accomplish a prophecy that had been passed on by word of mouth over the centuries.

The Prophecy and the Sisters

Ingrid stumbles upon a different path, however, upon meeting the twin sister-witches, Serenity and Priscilla, who are bound to be on opposite sides of a magic battle. There had always been a prophecy that there existed two strong witches-one was Light-driven, and the other was Dark-driven. This was the moment she had waited to happen, Ingrid knew at once. It was not simple to lead Serenity. She recognized herself in her younger years- angry, lost, and seeking to find her place in the world. Serenity was not the only person that Ingrid trained in magic. She assisted her to confront fear, grief, and doubt. When everything went wrong, she was the voice of reason. Besides, although Ingrid lived through traumatic losses, as the Gifted Series reveals to us, she did not lose hope.

Why Ingrid Matters

Ingrid is an example that not all strong women are loud. There are times when, you know, it is like being able to survive when there was every reason to break. It is educating others to hold their head up even when one is yet to mend themselves. Her past is her protection, and she is not ashamed of it, but uses it to develop. Because of her, the readers get a glimpse of the rich history of the witch world- how far into the past is its existence, how many people have died trying to keep and how much they take a stand in the face of adversity to remain.

What’s Next for Ingrid?

While The Gifted Series focuses on Serenity’s journey, Ingrid’s story feels far from over. Fans have already asked: Will we ever get a book from Ingrid’s point of view? A prequel about her time in Salem? A side story about the witches she’s saved over the years?

We can only hope.
